A new way to deal with erectile dysfunction (ED) is found, by using poison of deadly spider.
The bite of a spider (Phoneutria nigriventer) which usually wandered in the forests of Brazil are causing a painful erection that can last for hours and eventually lead to impotence, so scientists Brazil and the United States notes.
After isolating the toxin, the scientists by radioactive tag and inject toxins that have been purified, Tx2-6, the mice suffering from severe hypertension and ED. The researchers then examined the level of toxins in the animal's penis and using these toxins to contract and relax the penile tissue. Result; there is a change of nitric oxide levels which causes relaxation and erection of the penis.
Scientists are planning to explain the results of future research on 24 September Conference of the American Heart Association (American Heart Association's conference) which was the focus of talk about high blood pressure in Chicago.
"In Brazil, it is usual when someone poisoned / can animals," explained principal investigator Kenia Pedrosa Nunes, doctorate in physiology at the Medical College of Georgia, Agusta native descent who is also Brazil. "So, we will be aware of spiders deadly, and can it make a normal erection (in mice)."
Wild spiders are common in Brazil throughout Central and South America. They are kind of spiders the most poisonous in the world and caused a number of deaths in humans.
Erectile dysfunction is also called impotence, causing many problems. According to the National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NKUDIC), DE is a condition where the penis of a man no longer erection at all, can also erect but not consistently, or only briefly. This condition causes difficulties 30 million American men and men in other places.
For some cases, the cause may be psychological, but for others, especially the elderly, DE associated with degenerative diseases such as diabetes or due to medication effects.
At the end of 1990, the emergence of Viagra is an important moment in the revolution of impotence treatment. Other drugs such as Viagra and Cialis came later. The third drug is useful in improving the effects of nitric oxide; the chemical that makes relaxing muscles in the penis during sexual stimulation occurs and increases blood flow to the penis.
Poisons / spiders can also able to increase nitric oxide levels, though with different mechanism, clear Nunes. Scientists have long looked really 'can' for use in the treatment of ED. "But, we need more research in another," he said. "I believe these findings will be a new breakthrough that can help ED sufferers who can not take Viagra."
One important note is revealed in this study Nunes Dr. dalah comment. Arnold. "The concept that the toxic effects erectile it makes sense," explained Dr. Arnold Melman, Head of Urology at Montefiore Medical Center, New York City. "This is very interesting and unusual, but is still relatively early."
