Jakarta Fashion Week Open Opportunities for Young Designers

Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) Organizers has set a date of November 12 to 18 as the date of implementation of JFW 2011/2012. Svida said, in the selection of the participating designers, the alumni of Lomba Perancang Mode / Fashion Designers Contest (LPM) will be prioritized. LPM is a new designer competition held by Femina since 1979. In the first election, Samuel Wattimena selected as the winner. Samuel has now become one of the top designers in Indonesia.

LPM is held every year until 1997. After a gap of six years of its implementation, the LPM was held again in 2003 and turned into a biennial event. Starting in 2009, the LPM is held alternately with Accessory Designer Contest.

The names of the senior designer that was born of this event are Edward Hutabarat, Itang Yunasz, Carmanita, Stephanus Hamy, Taruna Kusmajadi, Moses Widiatmodjo, Denny Wirawan, Sally Koeswanto, and Priyo Oktaviano. In addition, the LPM also gave birth to young designers today such as Eny Ming, Tex Saverio, Andreas Odang, Zacky Gaficky, and Albert Yanuar.
  
This year, the LPM receives as many as 296 sketches, which dominated the fashion school students throughout Indonesia. Some of them once and was studying in Jakarta, Singapore, Shanghai, and Milan.
